What the SD-F001 Does

The SD-F001 is a four-axis CNC paper core cutter. It cuts paper tubes to the exact length your tape line needs, automatically. It does not cut tape â it prepares the core that tape is wound onto. Every finished roll starts with a straight, round core, and the SD-F001 is the machine that makes that core consistent from the first roll to the ten-thousandth.

Where It Fits on the Line

The paper core is the first component a tape roll is built on. The SD-F001 runs at the very front of the finishing line, feeding clean cores into everything downstream:

SD-F001 (cut paper cores) â rewinding and slitting â roll packaging (SD-60SS, SD-77HM, SD-920HM, SD-TB1020) â column sleeve shrink (SD-1060 + SD-4522) â labeling â case erecting and sealing â palletizing.

The SD-F001 also works as the automatic core-loading station in front of a slitting machine. On a two-shift line, switching arbors costs ten minutes or more each time the spec changes. Cutting cores to length ahead of the run, automatically, takes that wait out of the schedule.

Applications

Paper cores for electrical tape, cloth tape, masking tape, BOPP tape, and other industrial tapes wound on a 76 mm mandrel. If your tape line runs 76 mm ID cores, the SD-F001 supplies them in length after length. It is built for the core only â finished tape is cut to width downstream by the slitting machine, not by this cutter.

SD-F001 vs Cutting Cores by Hand

A saw and an operator can cut a core, but the result drifts. Length varies roll to roll, the ends are not always square, and a person is tied to the saw for the whole shift. The SD-F001 removes those problems:

Length is set on the touch screen â no measuring, no marking, no re-cutting.
Even a 12 mm short core comes off with a round, clean face, so it seats on the winder without runout.
Material head and tail are excluded automatically; the machine shuts down on fault alarm instead of pushing a bad core downstream.
Wireless remote monitoring lets you check run status and push firmware without a site visit.

Common Questions

Can the SD-F001 cut 38 mm cores?
No. The standard mandrel is 76 mm. For other core sizes, tell us your spec and we will size the loader.

Does it cut finished tape?
No. It cuts paper cores only. Tape is slit to width by the slitting machine that runs after the cores are loaded.

How long does a length change take?
Input the new length on the touch screen â about one minute, no tool change.

How long does installation take?
Same-day setup, 1â3 days of commissioning over video. Send us your core ID, wall thickness, and cut length and we will confirm the fit.
